The NFL must have needed to compete with the World Cup this week, as it went off. Huge comebacks and Overtime games definitely delivered entertainment.

Week 15 Highlights

Worst Play in NFL History
  • Vikings Break the Record: 33-0, that was the score at the half. Literally no one has comeback from that score. So, leave it to a Matt Ryan led team to make it happen, as the Colts completely collapsed in the 2nd half. MIN rolled back to force OT and then finished them off with a FG winning, 39-36.
  • Jags On The Rise: There is something in the water in Jacksonville (I blame the local entertainment establishments), as the Jags have been really good at home, especially against the spread. Still DAL was up 27-10 with 5:26 to get in the 3rd. Then, QB Trevor Lawrence connected to Zay Jones over and over to force OT. Then, the D answered the call with a tipped, pick 6 to win, 40-34, and pull within one game of the AFC North lead.
  • Lions On the Verge: The Lions continued their 2nd half onslaught on the NFL. This time in NY with the salty Jets up 17-13 with 4:41 left in the 4th, the Lions converted on a 4th and 1 from the 49 yard line for a huge bootleg play to take the lead. The Jets missed the long FG to secure the 20-17 win and now are 7-7 with 6 wins of 7.
  • Chiefs Survive Texans: For the 2nd week in a row, the Texans had a contender on the ropes at home. HOU led 21-16 at the end of the 3rd Quarter, and they answered KC’s score to tie the game to force OT. Unfortunately, after a fumble by QB Davis Mills on a scramble, the Chiefs capitalized for the game winning TD to end the upset threat, 30-24.
  • Bengals Flip The Script: It was a tale of 2 halves or maybe even a half and a quarter. TB played a great half taking CIN to the brink, 17-3, but the 3rd Quarter was a disaster for the Bucs. TB tried a fake punt up 14 at their own 26 – ugh, Interception, Fumble, Fumble leading to 24 straight points en route to 34-23 and their 6th straight win and AFC North lead.
  • The Unfathomable Finish: The Raiders have been awful this year with double digit leads, and Sunday was actually more of the same. Up 17-3 at halftime over the Pats, NE scored 21 unanswered points to take the lead 24-17. Then, the Raiders were able to tie the game on a questionable TD pass. ON the ensuing drive, the Patriots apparently were running the clock out, but with RB Rhamondre Stevenson’s run up the middle for 23 yards, then lateraled the ball back to WR Jakobi Meyers who lost his mind by lateraling the ball 20 yards back to Mack Jones only to be intercepted by Chandler Jones who trucked Jones and ran 48 yards for the game winning TD, 30-24. Insane.

Predictions: S/U 1-3, ATS 0-3-1 – Terrible week with some tight games.

Wegs Index After Week 15

Lawrence Is Taking the Jags Up the Index
  1. Eagles 13-1 (2.50 Index) – QB Jalen Hurts may miss a week or two, but with the DAL loss, they have the NFC East locked up. They can still get that 1 Seed without him.
  2. 49ers 10-4 (4.17) – SF may be just fine with Purdy, and that D is still incredible – 15 points allowed.
  3. Bills 11-3 (5.33) – The Bills were lucky to survive the late night game versus MIA, but that all but locks up the AFC East for them.
  4. Cowboys 10-4 (5.50) – The Boys are not playing well. They secured their spot in the playoffs, but they need to stop playing around.
  5. Bengals 10-4 (8.67) – CIN is not to be reckoned with right now. They are playing better than KC and BUF right now.
  6. Ravens 9-5 (9.33) – The Ravens looked bad versus CLE, and if they aren’t careful, they can still miss the playoffs.
  7. Chiefs 11-3 (11.67) – The Chiefs D isn’t good enough. Even with a better running game, they need to find ways to close teams out better.
  8. Patriots 7-7 (12.17) – Ugh, that play will likely cost them a playoff spot.
  9. Jets 7-7 (13.50) – I love the Jets, but their loss versus DET and the remaining schedule will make it hard to get there.
  10. Jags 6-8 (13.67) – The Jags are going to win the AFC South. Book it now.

Marquee Match Ups in Week 16

Burrow Has A Chance to End NE’s Chances
  • Jags at Jets (PK, 38 Total) – Thursday, 12/22 at 7:15 PM Central on Amazon – This is a huge game for both teams. The Jets are on the outside looking in. The Jags are just one game out of the division lead. It’s like picking between 2 of my kids in this one. I love both these teams, and they are next to each other in the Index. If Wilson starts, then I’m all in on the Jags. Jags win and cover (PK).
  • Giants at Vikings (-3.5, 48 Total) – Saturday, 12/24 at 12 Noon Central on FOX – The Giants and Vikings are the 2 biggest NFC pretenders in 2022. So, it is hard to figure this one out. HC Brian Daboll will have a game plan, but I don’t think they can score with the Vikes. As much as I hate them, I think MIN rolls in this one and covers -3.5.
  • Bengals at Patriots (+3.5, 41.5 Total) – Saturday, 12/24 at 12 Noon Central on CBS – The Pats really need this one, but the Bengals are a covering machine. Can Burrow beat Brady and Belichick in back to back weeks? I think he and the Bengals can. Win and cover -3.5.
  • Eagles at Cowboys (-5, 46 Total) – Saturday, 12/24 3:25 PM Central on FOX – This spread moved quickly with the news of Jalen Hurts’ shoulder injury. Plus, the Eagles do not need to win this game for the NFC East. The Eagles have pride, so I think they will cover +5, but not win the game – DAL wins.

Merry Christmas!
