Overall, the favorites were even in Week 6, but we had some huge upsets that made us keep watching. Plus, Game of the Year Part 1.

Week 6 Recap Notes

The Jets Terrorized Rodgers in Green Bay
  • J-E-T-S – I wrote it last week, but the “baby” Jets don’t know they are supposed to lose. The Jets went into Lambeau where the Packers had won 14 straight regular season games, and they dominated the Packers. The O wasn’t great, but the D was incredible, and the Jets block a punt for a TD (after blocking a FG in the first half). The Jets get to 4-2 with the 27-10 win, and if the playoff started today would be IN.
  • Big Blue – Must be something in the water, but HC Brian Daboll has his team playing tough. Down 20-10 in the 4th Quarter, QB Daniel Jones did it again with the help of his D and a bad INT by Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson. The Giants won 24-20, and are now 2nd in the NFC at 5-1.
  • TB12 Not Right – It wasn’t just Aaron Rodgers on Sunday who wasn’t great, as instead of doing the walk thru for his team, QB Tom Brady went to his former owner, Robert Kraft’s “surprise” wedding on Saturday. Well, the Bucs couldn’t muster a TD until late in the game, and off the bench QB Mitch Trubisky led the Steelers to the win and another huge upset, 20-18.
  • Bills Get Revenge – It was a classic showdown in Kansas City, and unlike most people thought, a low scoring game. However, QB Josh Allen was able to put together another late 4th Quarter drive to take the lead 24-20 with 1:04 remaining, which seemed like too much. This time the Bills intercepted QB Patrick Mahomes to secure the win and are in control of Home Field Advantage in the AFC now.
  • Fly Eagles Fly – There was a lot of buzz for this Eagles’ team in the off season, and the hype was right. PHI have mostly dominated the competition and led the Cowboys 20-3 at the half. To DAL credit, the cut the lead to 3 at 20-17, but the Eagles put on a drive to end the threat. Eagles remain the only undefeated team in the NFL at 6-0 with the 26-17 win.

Picks Review: S/U 4-0, ATS 3-1 – Much better week.

Wegs Index for Week 7

Bills Finish The Chiefs Off This Time

You’ll see that there are clearly 2 top team, and then all the rest. If you haven’t gotten your Futures Picks in for the Super Bowl now and hedge at the appropriate time.

  1. Bills (5-1, 1.83 Index) – The Bills did what they had to do in KC, and now they enjoy a Bye week.
  2. Eagles (6-0, 3.33) – The Birds are the class of the NFC, and they, too, will be on Bye in Week 7.
  3. Patriots (3-3, 10.33) – All of a sudden, the Pats win 2 straight with a 2nd string QB and are playing great. Stop me if you have heard this before.
  4. 49ers (3-3, 10.67) – The Metrics are from the previous weeks, as Mariota and the Falcons took advantage of 3 SF TOs to win.
  5. Bucs (3-3, 11.00) – If Brady isn’t focused, then this Offense isn’t good. The D is still carrying the Bucs.
  6. Jags (2-4, 11.50) – Yeah, I’m as surprised as you are on this one, but the Jags need to start winning these close games.
  7. Ravens (3-3, 11.83) – BAL has an issue in the 4th Quarter. Dominant in 3 Quarters in every game, they need to find a way to win games late.
  8. Chiefs (4-2, 12.50) – The Chiefs will be ok, but they get no rest with a trip to SF in Week 7.
  9. Jets (4-2, 12.83) -There they are in the Top 10. Not surprising as Top 9 in Yards Against.
  10. Vikings (5-1, 13.33) – The Vikes are not dominating, but they are winning and currently the 2 Seed in the NFC.

Waiver Wire in Week 7

Pierce Is Making Plays in IND
  • QB – Streamer of the Week: Tyler Heinicke (WAS) – With Carson Wentz out with a thumb issue, last year’s starter is back, and I think it’s an upgrade. GB has been a solid D, but WAS has some weapons and the Pack should be ahead in this one.
  • RB, Kenyan Drake (BAL) – The Ravens have not been the same running the ball in 2022, and Dobbins has disappointed. Drake had a huge day last Sunday, and CLE has been bad against the run. He can start for most teams.
  • WR, Alec Pierce (IND) – He’s a rookie out of CIN, but he is making big plays for Matt Ryan now. Pittman may be the #1 WR, but Pierce is 1A. TEN is 31st against the Pass to WRs.
  • WR, Chase Claypool (PIT) – He may still be rostered, but on CBS leagues only 48 percent. You know I like Pickens more, but if Trubisky starts again, he prefers Claypool over Pickens. He had his best game in Week 6. He may be a sneaky start in Week 7 versus the Fins.
  • DST – Streamer of the Week: Jets (NYJ) – The Jets dominated in Green Bay, so they could have a step back, but they face the putrid DEN offense. Hard to pass them up.

Marquee Match Ups in Week 7

Mahomes Needs to Recapture that Super Bowl Effort at SF
  • Browns at Ravens (-6, 45.5 Total) – Sunday, 10/23 at 12 Noon Central on CBS – An important AFC North battle, as the Browns have taken a nose dive losing 3 straight. If they want to see the post season, they need this game. The Ravens have been alternating wins and losses all season despite leading by double digits in each of their losses. I think the Ravens win this one, but they won’t cover the -6.
  • Colts at Titans (-2.5, 42.5 Total) – Sunday, 10/23 at 12 Noon Central on CBS– Colts/Titans Part 2 within just a few weeks, so not only do these teams know each other, but the AFC South depends greatly on this game. The Colts have shown fight 2 weeks in a row, while the Titans have won 3 straight. The Titans dominate this match up of late, but they only score in the 1st half. I like the Colts to surprise them and win outright, covering the +2.5.
  • Chiefs at 49ers (+2.5, 48.5 Total) – Sunday, 10/23 at 3:25 PM Central on FOX – The best game of the day in the late afternoon slot gives us a rematch of a Super Bowl. Both teams have had their bright spots and disappointments. The Chiefs’ Offense is great, but if the 49ers can get healthy for this one, then watch out. I have to use instinct on this one, and a betting trend – always bet against the team that was a Home Dog one week that loses and turns around to be a Road Favorite the next week – that’s the Chiefs. SF rebounds with a big win here and covers the +2.5.

Should be an interesting week.
