With only 3 weeks to go, the playoff picture has gotten even more murky.

5 Things I Learned in Week 15

Taylor Leaving Everyone In His Wake
  1. COVID Is Back – After a pretty stable season up until Week 13, the last 2 weeks have been wild. Over 100 players missing in Week 15 greatly impacted game results and spreads. Something to watch over the final 3 weeks.
  2. Colts Are Dangerous – IND came out guns ablazing and were able to hold off the streaking Pats after Jonathan Taylor’s late game gallop. He cements a stake on the MVP in a finish very reminiscent of Derrick Henry in 2019. No one wants to play this team, but Wentz needs to play better for them to win the Title.
  3. NFC Will Go Thru Lambeau – With Tampa and AZ losing in Week 15, the Pack control the NFC playoff picture, again. With games against CLE, DET and MIN – all winnable games. TB12 better get his thermals ready.
  4. AFC Will Go Through Arrowhead – KC has turned the corner on D and with the win over the Chargers, they will win the AFC West. Remaining versus PIT, CIN and DEN all should be wins. Chiefs righted the ship just in time as the rest of the Conference took a nosedive.
  5. Keep Your Eye on the 49ers – SF is now healthy on Offense. Jimmy G is making the throws, TE George Kittle is a beast, and WR Deebo Samuels is a Swiss Army knife. They still have a couple tough games with TEN and the Rams, but they are peaking at the right time.

Wegs Index After Week 15

  1. Bills 8-6 (3.50) – The Bills are back in the playoff mix, but they need to finish strong.
  2. Cowboys 10-4 (6.00) – The Boys are back on track. I can see them taking the NFC on the road or at home.
  3. Cardinals 10-4 (6.17) – The Cardinals got spanked by the Lions? Well, they need to burn that film and get back to what they did to win all those games.
  4. Patriots 9-5 (6.17) – Mac Jones was able to play good in the 4th, but poor throws early cost his team. How he goes, the Pats will go in January.
  5. Bucs 10-4 (6.67) – Tampa can’t beat the Saints. It’s weird, but 4 straight regular season losses. They better hope NO misses the playoffs.
  6. Colts 8-6 (7.67) – Love this team. If they had only held leads over TB and TEN in the 2nd game, they could have been the 1 Seed in the AFC.
  7. Rams 10-4 (8.50) – The Rams are now tied for the lead in the NFC West with back to back wins. Can they keep the momentum to finish the season?
  8. Packers 11-3 (9.67) – The Pack will likely be in the same positions as in 2020, but what makes this team different? Not sure yet.
  9. Chiefs 10-4 (11.00) – The Chiefs have been climbing up the ranks every single week. Still a ways away, but they are as hot as any team in the League.

Marquee Match Ups in Week 16

Ravens Better Have An Answer for Chase This Time
  • Colts at Cardinals (-1, 49 Total) – Saturday, 12/25 at 7:15 PM Central – A Christmas match up of top teams in both conferences. I’m not sure the Cards have what it takes to derail Taylor and these Colts.
  • Bills at Patriots (-2.5, 43.5 Total) – Sunday, 12/26 at Noon Central – Unless the forecast has 60 mph winds, then this match up will be what we wanted to see the other week. The Pats will actually need to play great D in this one while the Bills need to actually stop the run. I like the Bills to get their revenge in this one straight up.
  • Ravens at Bengals (-3, 44.5 Total) – Sunday, 12/26 at Noon Central – The Ravens have lost 3 straight with missed 2 point conversions. Their schedule isn’t great, so they really need to win this one. The Bengals smell the blood in the water. I think BAL will play well, but I see another loss with the CB injuries. Bengals win again.
  • Rams at Vikings (+3, 49.5 Total) – Sunday, 12/26 at 12 Noon Central – The Vikes have been up and down all season. This should be a high scoring game and fun to watch, but hard for me seeing the Vikings beating the Rams with all their players back.

3 Weeks to go. Hold on tight. It’s going to be a rough ride.
