I apologize for missing Week 12. It was a crazy week personally, and I wasn’t able to do the same level of work I normally do. Hopefully, you were able to get a win and be ready for this final week.

Week 12 Review

Godwin Split the Falcons’ D for 2
  • Godwin TB’s #1? – Another stellar game for WR Chris Godwin who turned 8 targets into 184 yards and 2 TDs, while Mike Evans had 8 targets for just 4 catches and 50 yards.
  • Henry’s Corner – RB Derrick Henry rocked the Jags’ D with 176 yards on 20 touches and 2 TDs. Doubters in August are paying the price now.
  • Mr. Jarvis – In CLE, WR Jarvis Landry has the rapport with Baker, while OBJ is drawing coverage – 13 targets, 10 carries for 148 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Welcome Back, Kittle – SF missed this guy, as TE George Kittle lit it up with 6 catches for 129 yards and a TD. He makes Jimmy G look good.
  • Jackson Scores TDs – We are witnessing greatness this year – 169 yards passing, 95 yards rushing and 5 TDs. He is the Fantasy MVP – surpassing Christian McCaffery.

Byes: We are done with Bye Weeks

Season Finale

This is typically the last week of the regular season. Some leagues have shut down trades, which is cool. Others limit your waiver wire transactions in the playoffs, so review your league rules again before this week starts. Here are some tips for the finale.

  • Go All Out – Most leagues have incentives on being either the top team in record or total points. If you are close to the top or a playoff bye, then you need to do all you can to get those things. I suggest if you are assured a playoff spot, then play your normal studs, but it is ok to play your upside/high variance guys this week. If they don’t hit, you are still in the playoffs. However, if that extra long TD or big game happens, then you can grab that bye or high point prize (real cash!). Even if you are in a win or go home game, why not put in a high flying lineup.
  • Shore Up Your Bench – Again, you may be able to make pick ups in the playoffs off the wire (which all leagues should allow). However, if you can’t, then grab your top RB or RBs Handcuff. Grab an extra DST you like for the playoffs, and be covered at each position. If you can pick up, then grab those guys who could pop late and stash then along with the handcuffs.
  • Defensive Match Ups Matter – If you are in a win or get in scenario, then make sure your DST has a good match up. Don’t be afraid to pick up another DST that plays a very weak opponent – or a team that plays a turnover machine like Jameis Winston, Daniel Jones, Philip Rivers, etc.
  • Don’t Look Too Far Ahead – Week 13 matters to everyone, and sure the playoffs run 3 weeks or so, but the only real week you need to look at beyond Week 13 is Week 14. You have to advance, so put out a great lineup this week and be ready for next week.

You can do it!

Week 13 – 4 x 4 – Waiver Pick Ups, Upside Starters, Caution Players and DSTs to Target

Waiver Wire Targets (60% or Less Ownership)

  • Jonathan Williams, RB, Colts (61% Owned) – I know it is over 60%, but Williams is so under owned. He was a stud in BUF before getting kicked off the team, so on the Colts, he will get run with Marlon Mack out. Worth an add.
  • Benny Snell, RB, Steelers (11% Owned) – Yet another Steelers’ RB target with James Connor on the shelf. Snell returned from injury to run for 98 yards on 21 carries. That’s a lot of volume to pass up. Grab him.
  • Cole Beasley, WR, Bills (36% Owned) – He is not going to light it up, but he is very steady, especially in PPR. He is a good floor guy on a team full of upside dudes.
  • AJ Brown, WR, Titans (32% Owned) – Brown is the actual #1 WR in TEN. It is a low volume passing team, but Brown can be a boom player for you.

Upside Starters (Boom Players for Week 13)

Chark Should Light It Up
  • Aaron Jones, RB, Packers – You likely start this dude already, but it will be one of those multiple TD days for Jones. He is going to crush the Giants in this one.
  • DJ Chark, WR, Jags – Chark should be in your lineup every week already, but the Bucs are very susceptible to the deep ball. He should feast in a high scoring affair.
  • Mecole Hardman, WR, Chiefs – The Oakland secondary is not good, and Hardman is back in the fold with Tyreek Hill struggling with a hamstring injury. He is worth a shot in this high totaled game (54.5).
  • Darren Waller, TE, Raiders – He’s been good most of the year, but with some slower outings, I look to see Waller back against the Chiefs.

Caution Players (Players I would sit for Boom Players)

  • Josh Allen, QB, Bills – Allen has been really good for fantasy football this year. However, the Cowboys who do give up points will get after him with their pass rush. You need to beat the Cowboys running the ball, and I think Allen struggles mightily in this one.
  • Chris Carson, RB, Seahawks – Not thrilled with Carson’s production over the past couple weeks, plus he is losing carries to a now healthy Rashaad Penny. You can sit him.
  • Julio Jones, WR, Falcons – Lattimore will make Matt Ryan throw to Ridley and others instead of Julio. You can sit him.
  • DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Texans – Hard to sit this guy, but the Patriots will take him out of the game. You can sit him to another guy.

Defensive/Special Teams Match Ups That Can Help You

  • Panthers – Carolina is reeling a bit on the field. After a great stretch, they have cooled off. However, QB Dwayne Haskins of the Redskins comes to town. I like CAR as a streamer.
  • Eagles – The Eagles secondary still isn’t great, but Miami got their 2 wins and have given up on the season. Philly should roll in the game, and I like Fitzpatrick to turn the ball over a lot against that D Line.
  • Broncos – Philip Rivers is challenging the league lead in TOs, and Broncos D is actually good. I really like the Broncos to shut down Rivers and that offense with some INTs.
  • Packers – The Giants are a bad team. QB Daniel Jones has done what we thought he would do – turn the ball over. Even with Saquon Barkley, NYG are terrible. Plus, the Pack have turned over their opponents a ton this season.

Good luck this week. Get that playoff spot!
