It’s been another unpredictable week in Fantasy. We have guys going for 4 TDs and others giving you a goose egg. Hopefully, you picked the right guy (unlike me).

Week 8 Review – Heroes and Zeroes

Heroes:

Coleman Made the Most of His Touches
  • Nate King Coleman: RB Tevin Coleman started the year on the shelf with an injury, but he has come back with a vengeance. Coleman torched his former NFC South opponents for 118 yards on just 13 touches and wait for it…. 4 TDs!! Gonna be hard to bench him now.
  • Mr. Cooper’s London Trip: WR Cooper Kupp wanted to make the most out his trip to London with 7 catches on 10 targets with 220 yards and a TD.
  • Mr. Boom or Bust: WR Mike Evans was Boomin’ this week with 198 yards and 2 TDs on 11 catches from 12 targets. Watch out for next week….
  • The Other Lions Guy: WR Kenny Golladay got the volume this week with 8 targets translating into 6 catches for 123 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Mr. Jones to You: QB Daniel Jones was great for fantasy in a losing effort with 322 yards, 4 TDs and no INTs.

Zeroes:

  • Chasing Edmonds: After a monster week, RB Chase Edmonds faced the Saints and was shut down – 9 touches for 13 yards…. and has a major hamstring injury.
  • No Ty In This One: RB Ty Johnson was not the lead back in DET and got only 8 touches for 38 yards yielding carries to Tra Carson. Ugh.
  • Not This Week: QB Kyle Allen was showed up by the 49ers D – only 158 yards, 0 TDs and 3 INTs.
  • Corey, Where Art Thou: After back to back solid performances, WR Corey Davis got 6 targets turning into 2 catches for just 9 yards. Yuck!

Injuries: RB Chase Edmonds, AZ – hamstring (Doubtful); RB David Johnson, AZ – ankle (Day to Day – missed W8); WR Dede Westbrook – shoulder (Questionable); RB James Connor, PIT – collar bone? (TBD).

Trade: 2 other trades that happened before Week 8 – WR Mohammed Sanu to the Pats from ATL and WR Emmanuel Sanders goes to SF from DEN (and caught a TD). RB Kenyan Drake goes to AZ with injuries to Johnson and Edmonds. He could be really good in this scheme.

Week 9: Waiver Pick Ups, Trade Targets, Sneaky Starts, and Caution Players

Handcuffing Is Key

It’s time to get your handcuff RBs. Hopefully, you already have because we have already seen attrition at the position – Saquon, Kamara, David Johnson – all have seen their back ups go off with the opportunity. The byes will still affect you, but you need to protect your team from certain destruction. Here is the list of Premium Handcuffs to get today, in order:

  • Tony Pollard – DAL (Zeke)
  • Alexander Mattison – MIN (Dalvin)
  • Latavius Murray – NO (Kamara – too late)
  • Reggie Bonnafon – CAR (McCaffery)
  • Rashaad Penny – SEA (Carson)
  • Kareem Hunt – CLE (Chubb)

Lottery Guys with Stand Alone Value:

  • Miles Sanders – PHI (Howard)
  • Devin Singletary – BUF (Gore)
  • Jamal Williams – GB (Jones)
  • Austin Ekeler – LAC (Gordon)
  • Royce Freeman – DEN (Lindsay)

Waiver Pick Ups (60% or Less)

Goedert is Wentz Guy Now
  • Kenyan Drake, RB, AZ – With the other 2 guys on the shelf and RB success this season, you have to go after this guy.
  • The Healthiest PIT RB (Unknown) – Looks like James Connor is going to be out, Samuels was not active, Benny Snell got hurt, so Edmonds? It’s a good workload against IND.
  • Chris Conley, WR, JAC (3% Owned) – With Westbrook out and Chark drawing coverage, Conley went off and he will continue to get looks.
  • Dallas Goedert, TE, PHI (15% Owned) – It is hard to ignore that Goedert is getting the red zone looks, while Ertz is not. With TDs in consecutive weeks, he is worth an add.

Last Week: Matt Moore – 267 Yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs; Ty Johnson – Was awful; Corey Davis – also terrible; Jonnu Smith – Incredible – 6 for 78 yards and a TD.

Trade Targets (Buy Low Guys)

  • Devin Singletary, RB, BUF – Gore is super human, but the Bills are in the playoff hunt and they will need young legs in December. I like Singletary to be the man late.
  • Sony Michel, RB, NE – I’m looking ahead here. If you are in the playoff hunt, Michel has 2 of the worst run defenses in Week 14 and 15. That’s when you cash.
  • Tyrell Williams, WR, OAK – All he does is catch TDs. He has a TD in every game he’s played. Can you use that on your team? Go get him.
  • Emmanuel Sanders, WR, SF – With the trade, he becomes the #1 WR on a playoff team.

Last Week: Carson Wentz – Not great, but 172 yards passing, 1 TD and 35 yards rushing; Le’Veon Bell – 12 touches for 35 yards (still buy low); Ju Ju Smith-Schuster – He hit big – 9 targets, 5 catches, 103 yards and 1 TD; Zac Ertz – 2 catches for 20 yards on 4 targets – still a mystery.

Sneaky Starts/DFS Plays

  • Derek Carr, QB, OAK (FD $7300) – Carr had a big game at HOU, and now he comes home with the Lions giving up big numbers to QBs this season. I like Carr again.
  • Le’Veon Bell, RB, NYJ (FD $7000) – Yep, he hasn’t been good, but MIA comes to town. They give up yards everywhere. Bell will finally get his at a lower price.
  • Tyler Lockett, WR, SEA (FD $7500) – Maybe not sneaky, but TB is just bad against the pass. Metcalf could also go off, but I expect Russell to light up this team and Lockett will score.
  • Cameron Brate, TE, TB (FD $5100) – A high total here, and OJ Howard is dinged up. Make America Brate again.

Last Week: Matt Moore – delivered on value with the 267 and 2 TDs; John Brown – 5 for 54 yards – I expected more; Corey Davis – dead to me; Jordan Akins – the wrong HOU TE with 2 catches for 11 (Fells had 6 for 58 yards and 2 TDs…)

Caution Players (Think Twice)

Lamar Will Get A Real Test on Sunday Night
  • Lamar Jackson, QB, BAL – He’s been incredible, but not gonna happen against Belichick and this Pats D. They crush Rookie and 2nd Year QBs.
  • Kyler Murray, QB, AZ – He’s been very productive, but with another tough match up against the 49ers – you gotta sit him this week.
  • Odell Beckham, WR, CLE – Maybe you aren’t starting him anyway, but DEN will take him away, like they do all #1 WRs.
  • Travis Kelce, TE, KC – Mahomes may be back, but the MIN D is no joke – 7th against the TE. You start him, but don’t expect much.

Last Week: Christian McCaffery – ripped off the long run – 18 touches, 155 yards and 1 TD (he’s unstoppable); Nick Chubb – 21 touches for 138, but 2 fumbles and 0 TDs; TY Hilton – 2 catches for 54 yards; Chris Godwin – 4 for 43 yards.

Good luck this week.
