The NFL season is the best because each game has great value. One sixteenth of the season or 6.25% for each game played for each team. At this point, we have completed 37-44% of the season. That leads to separation in teams.

Week 7 Review

Remember When the Saints Couldn’t Win on the Road?
  • Vikes Outgun Lions – The Vikings rolled into Detroit and lit up that Lions’ defense with 42 points, despite losing WR Adam Thielen early on. QB Matt Stafford did throw 4 TD passes to WR Marvin Jones, but they had no answer for Cousins, Diggs and Cook, 42-30 moving them to 5-2.
  • Colts Work Texans – QB Jacoby Brissett has led this team well, and he had a career day on Sunday with 4 TDs allowing the Colts to grab control of the AFC South with the 30-23 win moving to 4-2.
  • Ravens D Lead the Way – The Seahawks’ home field advantage has evaporated lately with yet another loss, this time to the Ravens who used 2 Defensive scores to best Russell Wilson 30-16. The Ravens are the clear leader of the AFC North at 5-2.
  • Dallas Crushes the Eagles Spirit – After three straight losses, the Boys jumped out to an early lead on 2 quick Philly turnovers, and they never looked back. Dallas grabs control of the NFC East with the resounding 37-10 win leaving the Eagles looking for answers.
  • Saints Big Boy the Bears – The Saints lost QB Drew Brees, and have not lost a game since. This time in Chicago, the Saints defense stifled the Bears’ offense except for garbage time production to a 36-25 win and move to 6-1 on the year leading the NFC South. I think this is Coach Sean Payton’s best coaching effort in over a decade. Both leading the offense to quality production despite the injuries, and allowing DC Dennis Allen to just crush teams every single week.

Key Injuries: QB Patrick Mahomes, KC – Patella dislocation (Out); RB Kerryon Johnson, DET – Knee (IR); LB Leighton Van Der Esch, DET – Neck (Questionable); WR Adam Thielen, MIN – Hamstring (Questionable); QB Matt Ryan, ATL – Ankle (Questionable); WR Will Fuller, HOU – Hamstring (Doubtful); TE Delanie Walker, TEN – Ankle (Questionable).

Last Week’s Predictions: 2-2 S/U, 2-2 ATS, 0-4 Totals (ouch!)

Top 6 Teams:

  1. Patriots – NE is head and shoulders above the rest. Yes, they have an easy schedule, but they are putting up historic defensive numbers, plus +14 TO Differential.
  2. 49ers – SF shut out WAS. That Defense is legit, and the offense doesn’t make a lot of mistakes.
  3. Vikings – The Vikes are playing good ball. If Cousins can come through in big spots, then they will be right there in the end.
  4. Cowboys – A bounce back after 3 straight losses still shows the Boys at the top here, but can they beat good teams?
  5. Ravens – Lamar Jackson is like the 5th leading rusher in the NFL. That can’t continue if he wants to be playing in January.
  6. Chiefs – KC without Mahomes for the next few weeks will test that defense and Coach Andy Reid’s game plans.

Marquee Match Ups in Week 8

Can the Panthers Slide Past the 49ers?
  • Panthers at 49ers (-5.5, Total 41.5) – Sunday, 10/27 at 4:05 PM Eastern/3:05 PM Central on FOX – A huge match up in the NFC, and a real win that can give SF more credibility. Can Kyle Allen stand up to the SF D? I don’t think so. I like SF to win S/U, Cover -5.5 and Over 41.5.
  • Browns at Patriots (-13, Total 46) – Sunday, 10/27 at 4:25 PM Eastern/3:25 PM Central on CBS – Let’s see if the Browns start living up to their hype after the bye. The Pats are in f’ it mode, and that defense will be ready for Baker, Odell and the fellas. I like NE to win, Cover -13 and Under the 46.
  • Raiders at Texans (-6.5, Total 51.5) – Sunday, 10/27 at 4:25 PM Eastern/3:25 PM Central on CBS – A battle of current Wild Card teams, as both teams coming off of losses. The Raiders caved in the 2nd half, and the Texans didn’t have the zip of other games. I think the Texans are better than the Raiders, and they will win S/U, Cover -6.5 and Over 51.5.
  • Packers at Chiefs (+4.5, Total 48) – Sunday, 10/27 at 8:20 PM Eastern/7:20 PM Central on NBC – The Chiefs will be weakened without Mahomes, but the Packers have been on the edge of losses. I think Andy Reid will have Matt Moore ready to play on SNF, and the Chiefs will shock the world here winning S/U, Covering the +4.5 and Under 48.

Enjoy another crazy week in the NFL.
