Some marquee match ups led to some really entertaining games, including a battle of MVPs – current and future.
Week 6 Review and Other News
- Watson Bests the MVP – The Texans went into a rocking KC, and promptly went down 17-3 in the first quarter after 2 Patrick Mahomes TDs. Yet, QB Deshaun Watson never gets rattled. He just brought his team back outscoring the Chiefs 28-7 the rest of the way. He struggled with 2 INTs, but threw for 1 TD and ran for 2 besting the MVP in their first ever meeting, Texans win 31-24.
- Vikings Nuke Eagles – The Eagles came in with a banged up secondary, and for once, QB Kirk Cousins beat a quality opponent with 333 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT (3 TDs to Stefon Diggs). The Vikes right there in the NFC Central now, Vikes win 38-20.
- 49ers Are For Real – Most experts felt that the weak SF schedule contributed to the 4-0 record, but the 49ers crushed the Rams. That SF defense limited QB Jared Goff to 78 yards and just 165 total yards. The Rams also lose Aqib Talib to the IR, and trail by 3 full games to SF with the loss. SF win 20-7.
- Jets Are Different With Darnold – The Jets only scored 1 TD in 3 games without Darnold. On Sunday, the Jets scored 3 TDs including a 92-yard bomb to Robbie Anderson. However, the Jets defense played really well hitting Dak Prescott on seemingly every drop back to get the 24-22 win.
- Pack Get Questionable Win – The Lions jumped out to a 13-0 lead early, but the Pack bounced back to tie the game at the half. Then, with a 9 point lead in the 4th, the Pack get 3 critical calls their way – 2 illegal hands to the face on 3rd downs and one no call on the PI. The Packers win this critical game in the division, 23-22.
Key Injuries: CB Aqib Talib, LAR – Ribs to IR; OG Kyle Long, CHI – IR with everything; TE Will Dissly, SEA – Achilles (Doubtful); WR Amari Cooper, DAL – thigh injury (Questionable); OT Tytus Howard, HOU – MCL injury (Out).
Trade News: Rams trade away CB Marcus Peters to BAL , and received LB Kenny Young and a 5th rounder. Rams followed that up by getting CB Jalen Ramsey and give up 2 first round picks and a 4th rounder to JAC. Finally, the Rams received OG Austin Corbett from the Browns for a 2021 draft pick.
QB Changes: Ryan Tannehill will start for TEN against the Chargers this week over Marcus Mariota. Ryan Fitzpatrick will start over Josh Rosen for Miami at Buffalo.
Predictions Review: S/U – 2-2, ATS 3-1, Totals 1-2-1.

Top 6 Teams:
- Patriots – The schedule has helped this team, but it continues with the Jets in Foxboro.
- 49ers – SF is playing at a level not seen since the early 1990s, especially on defense. They get to play a terrible Washington team this week.
- Vikings – The Vikes are doing it all. If Cousins can play half as good as he did Sunday, then this team can beat anyone.
- Ravens – Ravens’ schedule has been soft, too, but a trip to SEA will show us plenty.
- Cowboys – The Cowboys are reeling after 3 straight losses with mounting injuries. They stay in the Top 5 by virtue of their offensive production.
- Panthers – CAR is better without Cam Newton, who knew. 4 Straight wins – less turnovers and a great defense that is stuffing everyone has them 4-2.
Key Match Ups in Week 7
- Vikings at Lions (+1.5, Total 45) – Sunday, 10/20 at 1 PM Eastern/12 Noon Central on FOX – A tough battle in the NFC North pits the Vikings and Lions who sit in 2nd place. The winner sits in a great spot for the Wild Card, while the other will be on the outside looking in. The Vikes are playing good ball and the Lions let one slip away in GB, so this one should be fun. I like the Vikings will win S/U, covering the -1.5 Spread, but I like the Under 45.
- Texans at Colts (PK, Total 47.5) – Sunday, 10/20 at 1 PM Eastern/12 Noon Central on CBS – A 1st place battle in the AFC South. The Colts have been sneaky good without Andrew Luck. They do not have the firepower of HOU, but like against the Chiefs, this team can control the line of scrimmage. Watson will need to make plays down the field to win this one. Colts will win a close one with PK, Under the 47.5 Total.
- Ravens at Seahawks (-3.5, Total 49) – Sunday, 10/20 at 4:25 PM Eastern/3:25 PM Central on FOX – A great inter-conference game between 2 playoff quality teams will take place in SEA. The Ravens have benefitted from a soft schedule, but QB Lamar Jackson is a different element for the Seahawks’ defense to worry about. Russell Wilson is the odds on MVP, so let’s see if he can continue his dominance. I like SEA S/U and to Cover the -3.5, Total Over 49.
- Eagles at Cowboys (-3, Total 49) – Sunday, 10/20 at 8:20 PM Eastern/7:20 PM Central on NBC – Yet another 1st place battle this week, this time it is in the NFC East. Both teams are banged up, so it may be who has the healthier team. The Cowboys’ O-line is only at half strength, but the Eagles’ secondary is Swiss cheese. Should be an interesting one. I like Philly to win S/U, Cover +3, Over the 49.
There you have it, Week 7 is upon us. Enjoy it!
