Last week, we ran through the Playoff Index to see who would win each round of the Playoffs.  I’ll do weekly reviews here to track our progress.  Remember the lower number indicates the better team.  Send in your comments below to let me know who you like this weekend.

Eastern Conference:

  • 1 Raptors (4.0) vs 8 Wizards (9.8):  Wizards fought hard in Game 1, but fell short and Raptors blasted them in Game 2.  Raptors lead 2-0 with a must win game for Wizards in Washington – Prediction of Raptors looking good.
  • 2 Celtics (8.8) vs 7 Bucks (12.2):  Boston has won both games with relative ease.  Bucks have to play better defense against the undermanned Celts to extend this series – Prediction of Celtics is looking right on.
  • 3 Sixers (6.2) vs 6 Heat (11.5):  Philly came on late in Game 1 to win, but Dwayne Wade struck back in Game 2 to tie the series.  Sixers got Joel Imbiid back in Game 3 and dominated for a 2-1 lead with Game 4 in Miami.  Prediction of Sixers is solid.
  • 4 Cavs (11.2) vs 5 Pacers (10.4):  Pacers crushed the Cavs in Game 1.  Lebron needed all of his 46 points to take Game 2 for the Cavs.  With a big game tonight in Indy.  This series is up for grabs.  Prediction by Index picked Pacers, but I overrode that decision with Lebron, which may prove costly.

Western Conference:

  • 1 Rockets (5.8) vs Timberwolves (8.8):  Rockets had to earn Game 1, but after a slow start in Game 2 just nuked Minnesota.  Rockets are cruising.  Prediction for Rockets is standing up.
  • 2 Warriors (5.4) vs Spurs (6.6):  Close by the Index, but not on the court, the Warriors are dominating the Spurs even without Steph up 3-0 and looking to sweep on Sunday. Prediction of Warriors is golden.
  • 3 Blazers (8.8) vs Pelicans (9.8):  Here is a clear example of when if the Index is close, the Talent wins out.  Anthony Davis, The Brow, is putting up great numbers.  The Blazers have no answer for the guy, and if the Pelicans continue to hit 3s at this clip, the Blazers are going to be swept on Saturday.  Prediction of Blazers is not going to happen.
  • 4 Thunder (8.0) vs 5 Jazz (7.4):  As predicted, this series is the best one so far.  The Thunder took Game 1, but rookie, Donovan Mitchell was transcendent in Game 2 to take the road win.  With Game 3 back in Utah, this series could go the distance.  Prediction was Thunder due to their talent over the Index, but the Index is even money right now on this one.

So far the Index would be 5-1 with 2 undecided (Both 4/5 match ups favor the 5 seeds and they are 1-1). Should be a fun weekend on the court.

Let me know who you like in those hot series – Thunder/Jazz and Cavs/Pacers.
